Ionizing radiation Safety Team
The team is responsible for verifying the implementation of the radiation safety systems at the Technion.
The team conducts inspections, audits, calibration of monitoring devices, risk assessments, consultation, and training of personnel at the Technion. They approve the purchase, reception and supply of radiation sources, and handle the disposal of radioactive waste. The team prepares safety reports for all entities within and outside the Technion, provides guidance, instructions, and requirements, assists in planning radiation laboratories, and approves radiation areas.
The head of the unit is responsible for the unit's activities and serves as the radiation safety officer at Technion with respect to all national entities. He holds the "Permit for Dealing with Radioactive Materials" and the "Permit for Operating Radiation Facilities" issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. These permits authorize her to approve the purchase of radioactive materials and radiation-emitting facilities for the entire Technion and oversee their use.
